CLASS EXEMPTION APPLIED FOR

TAI CHI WEAPONS

Following from notification in the previous newsletter, regarding the introduction on July 1st of the amended (Vic) Rules for Prohibited Weapons, TCAA Inc Committee decided to make an application for a class exemption on behalf of its members.

In the meanwhile, until the application has been processed, all financial members of the TCAA Inc will not be required to carry a license with respect to owning, carrying, using, buying, selling or bringing into Victoria any Tai Chi apparatus classified as a prohibited weapon.

Until and in the event that the exemption is granted, any such weapon will need to be carried and stored securely so that only the owner has access. Also proof of the exemption (TCAA membership card) will be required to be carried whenever such weapon is carried or used, at all times and in all places.

TCAA presently awaits the decision from the Victorian Governor-in-Council on this matter, and will advise as soon as notification of the decision is made available.
