Teachers/Instructors Insurance Alternatives

If you are teaching publicly, part of the risk management is to have insurance. The

information presented below is for the interest of members. Remember that all insurers require

you to comply with their specified conditions so that statistically they will make a profit. If

you are non-compliant, you may not be protected even if you paid your premium. Also, no

insurance can protect you for illegal activities.

 

TCAA provides the information below for you to make your own decision about whether any of these insurance fits your circumstances. TCAA's information is not to be contrued as advice. Remember - your insurance is a matter between yourself and the insurer; TCAA is not a party to the actual contract.

 

AKWF negotiated insurance for NCAS accredited instructors through AKWF/MAIA

Eligibility: NCAS accredited instructors through AKWF/MAIA.

 

How to request quote:

a. Download the form: "INSURANCE INFORMATION STATEMENT".

If you are not a direct member of the AKWF, enter in the space for

"AKWF Membership Number 3018 (Tai Chi Association of Australia)".

b. A quotation will be forwarded to you together with your insurance agreement

c. You return the signed insurance agreement together with the premium cheque

d. The Insurance Certificate of Coverage is sent to you within 14 days of receipt of your

agreement and cheque.

Known good points: You are not limited to one training location. Does not restrict you to “non-contact”. Premium is pro-rata to 4th April the next year.

 

Insurance for those teaching Tai Chi as a "Complementary and Alternative Medicine".

TCAA members who teach Tai Chi as a health-promotion activity may propose to be insured through OAMPS Insurance Brokers Limited under their "Complementary and Alternative Medicine Scheme", ie for "non-combative" Tai Chi Chuan, not involving striking and no adversarial competition.

You need to be a financial TCAA member. When you send off the proposal form, send also a signed copy of the "CODE OF STANDARD DECLARATION" to the TCAA for your membership record.
